| Today we celebrated the end of Miss-Adventure-Monkey's first Soccer Season (or Fute-Ball as I like to pronounce "Soccer")
When we could get her out on the field, she had a good time. | comments: Leave a comment |

Whether or not you are a "Teenage Boy" this is a great article for getting started with GTD.
Don't know what the whole "Getting Things Done" thing is all about? Then check out the article. Short story, if you are not getting as much stuff done as you you think you should, or if you have commitments that are slipping through the cracks, GTD might be for you. | comments: Leave a comment |
| Wow
Just finished the 2009 International Pre-Paid Legal convention in Oklahoma City. All I can say is "WOW"
I love my company, I love our attorneys, I love our opportunity.
I'm not going to try to explain what my weekend was like; it would be like trying to explain parent-hood to a person who has dogs. They really think they understand you.
There is so much more that I'd like to say, but it's currently all a jumble. | comments: 1 comment or Leave a comment |
| Take an hour and read "Marry Me"
If an when they make this a movie, I would go see it.
Have fun

Welcome to Marry Me! This is a romantic comedy graphic novel which will run about 80 pages, although it is ripe for sequels. I’ll be writing a screenplay for it soon and the ultimate goal is to sell it to Hollywood as a feature film — hence the domain name. The comic is illustrated, lettered and colored by the great Remy “Eisu” Mokhtar, who makes No Pink Ponies, among other comics. I’m really glad to have him on board for this project. | comments: 1 comment or Leave a comment |

Twilight Lady is a web comic that I would normally never have checked out. I don't go much for anything resembling "horror", and besides, is only been around since 2 days after my most recent birthday, so it's practically brand new.
That hasn't stopped it from landing on my short list of must-check-it-today comics, right after http://schlockmercenary.com
Check it out for the art, the story, the plotting or the philosophical content but check it out.
You may hate it.
You may find it oddly captivating. (And to the one I call "little fairy", this goes double for you.)
Either way, one of you all may be able to explain to me, why I like Twilight Lady so much.

| Just so everyone knows, the tornadoes missed us by a couple of miles (between 7 and 15 of them).
One of the guys on my team lost his great-uncle though. Pretty much destroyed their house.
Living in the northwest, the concept of having a conversation about the weather is pretty much, "just plain stupid".
Down here it is a pretty viable topic of conversation, because a 40 degree temperature change in less than 12 hours is common, and I'm starting to believe that the stories about 70 degree difference in 8 hours aren't complete nonsense to tell the new guy.
Anyway, H, MissAdventure-Monkey and myself are fine. | comments: 5 comments or Leave a comment |
| A couple of days ago, I learned a new way of spelling fish.
By paying attention when saying the following words out loud, it's pretty obvious.

| Am I the only person who is slightly concerned about the concept of a government swooping down on a group of non-violent people and taking their children away based on a faceless caller.
What is to stop my neighbor from calling CPS on my family and making false accusations.
Maybe it's just me, but I haven't heard anything out of the Texas case that makes me feel that the cost of this persecution is going to lower violent crime, or make me feel safer in anyway. | comments: 4 comments or Leave a comment |
| The Five Love LanguagesMy primary love languages are probably Physical Touch and Quality Time.
Complete set of results| Physical Touch: | | 8 | | Quality Time: | | 8 | | Words of Affirmation: | | 8 | | Acts of Service: | | 6 | | Receiving Gifts: | | 0 |
Information Unhappiness in relationships, according to Dr. Gary Chapman, is often due to the fact that we speak different love languages. Sometimes we don't understand our partner's requirements, or even our own. We all have a "love tank" that needs to be filled in order for us to express love to others, but there are different means by which our tank can be filled, and there are different ways that we can express love to others.

| Well, Malcolm arrived in Joplin fine yesterday evening around 8pm their time. I don't know if it' s Central time or what... but it's two hours difference from the West Coast. He got checked into his hotel room, moved everything inside to ready for a good nights sleep before starting the new job today. I am sure he will post soon-ish... There's just tons of things I am sure he is distracted by. But he DOES have high speed access at the hotel.
Just wanted everyone to know he arrived safely, and ask for everyones well wishes for his first day.

| Got into Boise, ID last night around 11:45pm (ID time) and back onto the road this morning around 7:30am. Going to do Boise, ID to Denver, CO today. Should be right around a 12 hour trip, so should be able to lay in for a good nights rest early tonight. Then tomorrow, the last leg from Denver, CO to Joplin, MO... Also about a 12 hour trip. Lets all hope for a nice boring uneventful trip now. =) | comments: 1 comment or Leave a comment |
| Left Vancouver, WA for Joplin, MO today. Originally the plan was to leave at 4 or 5 in the morning. Scrapped that and planned for 10am. Actually left the state of Washington around 2:30pm. Hoping to stop somewhere around Boise, ID tonight. Not too late though, because the plan is to get back on the road early early tomorrow morning. Have got to make Joplin, MO no later than Tuesday.
Will update again after I hear back from Malcolm. Posted by "the wife" at request of Malcolm | comments: 1 comment or Leave a comment |
| When I took a contract in Bemuda 2 years ago, I learned a ton of things about working travel, and cost of living indexes, but one of the most important things I got out of the experience is my friend Norm.
I got a letter from him today that got me writing and writing and writing, and it looked like a good way to re-kick start this thing and catch everyone up on what we've been doing.
Starting with H. and the MissAdventure Monkey (MM).
H is putting in some great work with Pre-Paid Legal (AndersonPPL.com), she's much better at talking with people than I am, so I'm trying to learn a lot from her. We're actually starting to treat the business as a business. (I realized a few weeks ago that I've run my programming career as a business, which has resulted in much better money, but has made it MUCH harder for me to try to do any other business on the side, something about trying to ride two horses.)
MM is just growing up SO fast. She turns 3 in December, is just about completely potty trained and is using full sentences. She loves going to day care (pronounced "school"), and is turning into quite the princess. How H and I turned out a princess, we will never know, but she's just amazing.
On to me
All of the last position's have fallen through. There have been 3 that I really wanted, 1 just stopped returning my recruiters calls, 1 team that really wanted me, got over ruled by their corporate HR from 1000 miles due to my contracting background, and one I lost out to a more qualified project manager.
In theory I've got a guaranteed job starting in 2 weeks, and I'm hoping to find another position before that. I've got one awesome job that is just down the street from me, and another one about 2000 miles away, in Joplin Missouri. I'd love to stay here, but the Joplin job has got a small ton of benefits to it, first being that the real estate prices are insanely low. Add in that it's in the heartlands, which means that I'm less than 5 hours of air travel from just about anywhere in the US or Canada (with the exception of Alaska or Hawaii)
Anyway, I'm trying to find full time positions, which seem to have a longer lead time for interviews.
Long story short, we're still optimistic and hopeful, and there are about 7 different contract jobs that I'm starting to look at.
Does it sound like I'm kind of bouncing off the walls? It feels like it to me. | comments: 4 comments or Leave a comment |
